We could not be more proud of this gorgeous custom gown created for our beautiful bride Jessica. It is one of our all time favorites! Jessica sent us an inspiration photo of a blouse she liked with lace trimmings. We loved the idea of adding various lace trims to a gown instead of using an “all-over” lace fabric, which is most commonly used in bridal. Jessica wanted a vintage feel. We discussed ways to achieve a vintage vibe with out looking like a costume. We used vintage design elements; the lace we selected and the tired skirt give a nod to the Victorian area. To keep if fresh and current we made the dress out of a beautiful shade of peach. We added an ivory silk chiffon overlay to soften the peach and tie in with the ivory lace trims. To bring some youthfulness we added a keyhole to the back of the gown. There are 7 different lace trims meticulously placed on this gown. A great deal of time was dedicated to achieving the right proportions. The weight of each lace tier of the skirt had to balance each other, as well as the brides figure, and the lace detail around the neckline had to be just the right weight to relate to the lace tiers of the skirt. Sometimes you just have to stare at a design for a long time until the direction becomes clear. We did a lot of staring at this gown:) It was definitely worth it in the end. The love for this gown keeps flooding in.
