We were excited to work with Stephanie because she wanted a ballgown silhouette dress, which we rarely get to create. Often times ballgowns are heavy and formal made from fabrics like satin. She wanted her gown to be light, summery and youthful. To achieve the volume in the skirt without the heaviness we decided to use silk organza. Its sheer quality lends itself to summer and it is light and airy. Stephanie is blessed with a barbie doll figure, little waist and ample bust – lucky girl! We pleated the silk organza at the waist to emphasize it. Stephanie’s original vision for the bust was to have a rushing detail. When we mocked it up it was obvious it was to much. Instead we talked about bringing in a contrasting fabric for the bust. We talked about lace but Steph felt it was too maternally and expressed her desire to keep it youthful. She was right. Steph found the fabric we used for the bust and it was perfect. It is organza with an embroidered floral design and small pearls. It went beautifully with the silk organza of the skirt. We really were able to accomplish what we set out too. A beautiful light and summery ballgown wedding dress that it is flattery to the brides fabulous figure!
