2 - Version 2We created this gorgeous custom gown for our bride Lani.  The bodice is made of lace ordered from France especially for this gown.  We added a rushing detail, made from silk chiffon, starting from the shoulder going over the bust and ending in the waist seam, it flows perfectly into the silk chiffon skirt and is embellished with a grosgrain ribbon at the waistline.  We have so much fun making custom pieces and collaborating with brides.  If you are open to the process your original inspiration will often evolve into something even better than you imagined.

This was one of our favorite dresses to date!  Jen has great taste and was a joy to work with.  We started with the skirt of the gown, made of silk chiffon.  Getting the right fit and volume was the easy part; the bodice of the gown took some trial and error.  We originally started with a completely different design inspired by a designer gown Jen liked.  It had a v-neckline, rushing and floral applique details.  It just didn’t feel right and Jen was not connecting with it.  She found new inspiration for the bodice and we went with a much simpler bodice design.   I was speaking with my seamstress about techniques we could do that would give some interest to the bodice.  She suggested a tufting technique where you sew small tufts, of silk chiffon, one by one in a row.  She sewed up a sample about 3 inches square.  When I showed it to Jen she immediately loved it and said, that is what I want!  Each tuft of fabric on the bodice of this gown is sewn by hand.  We added a silk chiffon sash around the waist that opens into a train in the back.  All the design element really came together in a harmonious way.  This bride looked so stunning on her special day that Style Me Pretty featured her wedding on their blog, definitely worth checking out!

Illume bride Kylee could not be easier to work with.  She is a perky ball of energy and her excitement to marry the man of her dreams radiated from her.  She contacted us with the vision of wearing our Esther gown on her wedding day.  At our first appointment it was the first and last gown she tried on!  I tired to talk her into trying on some other style for fun but Kylee didn’t need to.  That is what I like, a bride who knows what she wants.  She has good instincts because the proportions of our Esther gown were perfect on her cute figure.  She nailed the styling and looked classically stunning on her day!

This beautiful bride McKenzie is young, happy and fun.  For her summer wedding she wanted a dress that reflected her personality.  Our Austen gown was the perfect fit.  It has a youthful ease about it.  The French lace of this gown is light and drapes nicely on the body.  Mckenzie has a darling figure and wanted to show off her fab curves.  The fit’n flare silhouette of the gown did just that.  Fitted through the bodice this silhouette shows off the waist, hips and buttocks with the volume in the skirt starting just below.  We are proud to have Mckenzie as an Illume bride!
