Details

Bridal… it is all in the details. It is the small design details that make a dress special. Custom made covered buttons, keyholes, piping in seams, lace trims, pleated waistbands and hand sew’n applied design are just some of the details that will make your dress unique from all the other “off the rack” wedding gowns.

This beautiful bride McKenzie is young, happy and fun.  For her summer wedding she wanted a dress that reflected her personality.  Our Austen gown was the perfect fit.  It has a youthful ease about it.  The French lace of this gown is light and drapes nicely on the body.  Mckenzie has a darling figure and wanted to show off her fab curves.  The fit’n flare silhouette of the gown did just that.  Fitted through the bodice this silhouette shows off the waist, hips and buttocks with the volume in the skirt starting just below.  We are proud to have Mckenzie as an Illume bride!

We could not be more proud of this gorgeous custom gown created for our beautiful bride Jessica.  It is one of our all time favorites!  Jessica sent us an inspiration photo of a blouse she liked with lace trimmings.  We loved the idea of adding various lace trims to a gown instead of using an “all-over” lace fabric, which is most commonly used in bridal.   Jessica wanted a vintage feel.  We discussed ways to achieve a vintage vibe with out looking like a costume.  We used vintage design elements; the lace we selected and the tired skirt give a nod to the Victorian area.  To keep if fresh and current we made the dress out of a beautiful shade of peach.  We added an ivory silk chiffon overlay to soften the peach and tie in with the ivory lace trims.  To bring some youthfulness we added a keyhole to the back of the gown.  There are 7 different lace trims meticulously placed on this gown.  A great deal of time was dedicated to achieving the right proportions.  The weight of each lace tier of the skirt had to balance each other, as well as the brides figure, and the lace detail around the neckline had to be just the right weight to relate to the lace tiers of the skirt.  Sometimes you just have to stare at a design for a long time until the direction becomes clear.  We did a lot of staring at this gown:)  It was definitely worth it in the end.  The love for this gown keeps flooding in.

A special thanks to Gideon Photography for the beautiful photo’s.  This is one talented photographer and he is a joy to work with!  Check out his website and see his stunning work!

Non-Bridal White Dress

photo (6)

Our beautiful client Rosa needed a white, long sleeve, floor length Temple dress. She expressed that she did not want to look like a pioneer and she wanted it to be comfortable. We decided to use knit for its comfort, beautiful drape and non-wrinkle qualities. We designed a loose fitting top with dolman sleeves to give it a youthful look. The focal point of the dress is the ruching detail at the waist; Rosa has such a little waist we had to show it off. The dress fit her to a tee and the proportions complimented her figure nicely. We had a lot of fun on this one!

Models

Models

The models that represent a product are an extension of the brand. We wanted to find models that were naturally beautiful, in a girl next door kind of way, that had a certain wholesomeness to them. We wanted to avoid hard looking, overtly sexy or edgy looks. We were so pleased to have found Stephanie Porter and Erikka Jayne. These ladies perfectly embody Illume. They were pleasant to work with, no drama here. Our shoot was 13+ hours and these ladies kept their energy high and focused. We had a new found respect for modeling after this shoot. The gals made it look easy but it is quite hard work. They are as beautiful inside as they are on the outside. Too see more photo’s from our shoot visit our website.
